Antique rugs are loosely classified as rugs woven more than 100 years ago, whereas semi-antique range from 50-99 years. Either way, these rugs are valued for their durability quality, and uniqueness. We go the extra mile when handling your antique rugs for cleaning, taking extra precautions to ensure your antique rugs are treated with the utmost care and attention.
We employ a complete submersion process as it is the most effective method for Oriental rug cleaning. Your antique rug did not get this far without good reason! Whether it's a family heirloom or a historic rug, we handle them all. However, as with any antique, over the course of time, age will manifest itself. Among the things that remain are a host of impurities that have accumulated over time. Dirt and grime settle deep in the pile of your carpet, along with hair, dander from pets, bacteria, dust mites, and other contaminants, making your carpet as a perfect breeding ground for potential allergies and respiratory issues. While coffee and food stains are more noticeable, most of the impurities will be embedded deeper into your carpet, making them more difficult to remove. In short, what you may think is a clean carpet could actually be a carpet that is harboring a host of germs and allergens, and you don't even know it. With antique rugs, this is more important to address given the structure of the rug may not be what it used to be, as well as its condition. Some antique rugs have been preserved fantastically and after a thorough wash, come out ready for many more years to come. Others need a little more special attention and must be carefully inspected from foundation to fringe so as to ensure your rug gets exactly what it needs.

The custom-built rug duster gently agitates the rug with a series of vibrations, loosening the deeply embedded dirt out of both the front and back of your carpet. The carpet is then totally soaked and submerged in cool water, mixed with a mild organic shampoo. Together, this process breaks down and flushes out all impurities and any residual dirt and dust that are trapped within the fibers and foundation. After, it's time for the total submersion rinse: purified, softened water is used in rinsing process. The carpet has to be prepared for drying process-after excess amount of water is squeezed out. The carpet is now left to dry on a blocking table that is more suitable for rugs prone to losing their shape when wet. The final steps are carefully measured, the Process includes brushing both the pile and fringes, which is an important and often overlooked component of the carpet, as it is the extension of the warp threads, that makes the foundation of the carpet.
